The Fred Olsen Black Watch Cruise Ship was originally built in 1970 and named ‘The Royal Viking Star’. At the time, the ship was considered one of the top 5 cruise ships for luxurious sea travel. Over the years the ship has exchanged owners and names various times, until finally in 1996 the cruise ship was sold to Fred Olsen and renamed Black Watch. In 2005, Black Watch had an extensive refurbishment with extra cabins added and modernised lounges and public areas. Still retaining it’s old style charm the small ship is cozy and intimate, without been to cramped. Black Sea is very popular with passengers of all ages and in 2012 was voted ‘The Best for Entertainment’ in the Cruisers Choice UK awards. The ship is presently based in the UK and sails from various ports to worldwide destinations.

Drinking and Dining on-board Black Watch
Black Watch has numerous bars, restaurants and cafes for a varied selection of dining experiences. The Glentamar Restaurant is the main restaurant with a wide choice of cuisines available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is surrounded by panoramic windows which offer guests incredible ocean views as they are dining. For an alternative dining experience, a visit to The Orchid Room Restaurant is recommended where guests can dine in exotic surroundings with exquisite dishes prepared by highly trained chefs. For more informal dining and snacks the Braemar Garden Cafe allows diners to drink and eat al-fresco, whilst the Marquee Bar has freshly made snacks and drinks available throughout the day.
Fitness and Beauty Facilities
The Black Watch has an extensive range of spa treatments, beauty saloon and fitness centre which are ideal for passengers to take some time out and pamper themselves. The Atlantis Spa and Saloon offers various treatment rooms for massages, facials, acupuncture and steam and sauna facilities. The beauty studio for both women and men offers hair cuts, styling, colouring, manicures and pedicures. For the more energetic passengers a fully equipped gym with treadmills, exercise bikes, rowing machines and weights, allow guests to burn off calories after a big meal! The centre also provides various fitness classes which include aerobics, yoga and Pilates classes.
Entertainment
Day or night, Black Watch has plenty of entertainment and activities to keep everyone happy. Why not take a stroll along the beautiful promenade on deck and admire the stunning views or lie back on one of the sun loungers and soak up the rays. For the more active, 2 heated swimming pools and whirl pool Jacuzzi provides hours of fun and games. The Boutique shop on-board offers guests the chance to buy clothes and accessories at duty free prices. In the evening, a wide choice of shows, cabarets, live music, theatre and dancing in various bars and lounges offer guests the chance to experience something different every night.
