Island Escape

Originally launched in 1982 as MS Scandinavia, Island Escape is now owned and operated by Thomson Cruises. The ship is renowned for her more casual buffet style restaurants and less formal dress code. Island Escape has a capacity for 1,740 passengers and 540 crew members and cruises to Western Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. The ship was made famous in 2002 when a series of 10 episodes from a documentary about life working on a cruise ship was filmed on Island Escape. With it’s laid back atmosphere and fun activities and entertainment, Island Escape is very popular with younger clientele and families.

Is the food any good on the Island Escape?

Passengers have a choice of 3 main restaurants for either traditional dining or a casual ‘anytime’ dining option. The stunning Oasis Restaurant has an a la carte menu and waiter service with a wide range of international dishes been served. For passengers who prefer a more relaxed dining experience, both The Island Restaurant and Beachcomber Restaurant offer buffet style dining with a choice of international or British dishes. The Beachcomber is also open 24 hours a day and often hosts theme nights, for fun as you dine! Island Escape also offers 24 hour room service to all passengers, where crew members will happily deliver freshly cooked food direct to your cabin at anytime of the day or night.

Night Time Entertainment

With numerous bars and lounges, passengers on-board Island Escape will never be short of entertainment. Unwind at the end of the day in the ships very own local with beers, wines and spirits all on offer or enjoy al-fresco drinks on the patio at the Mirage poolside bar. Sports fans will love Champions bar with large TV screens and sporting souvenirs decorating the walls.

Take in a West-End show, cabaret or hilarious comedy show at the deluxe Ocean Theatre from some of the most talented performers around. Other shows take place in the Bounty Lounge, with live music, comedy acts and unique game shows for passengers to get involved with. Other passengers will love the deluxe on-board casino with poker, roulette, black jack, slot machines and many more thrilling games to try your luck at.

Day Time Activities

Most of Thomson’s itineraries offer a new port of call every day. For any days at sea or when passengers prefer to stay on-board there is plenty to do and a fair amount of open deck and sunbathing space. With a hair and beauty saloon, fully equipped gym, sports deck, video arcade, gift shops, internet cafe and kids club, Island Escape has something for everyone, whatever age you are. The whole family can join in the fun on the sports deck with basketball, volleyball, football and tennis. Little ones will be sure to love the Palmy Kids Club with daily fun activities and games to keep kids entertained for hours.
